Macaroons

by Jason on June 6, 2009

It’s part 3 of our holiday extravaganza, and since the main course has been pretty much covered with tofu turkey (which was then pretty much covered with onion gravy), it’s time for dessert. Since the oven’s been booked, here are some macaroons that don’t need baking, but do need protection from roving snackers who wander through the kitchen this time of year!

Onion Gravy

by Jason on May 30, 2009

For those of you who say our tofu turkey roast show, you might be wondering how things could possibly get better. Well, how about some gravy to go on that dish? In part 2 of our holiday extravaganza, Ange shows you how to whip up a quick gravy that tastes pretty darned good. I don’t know if I’d drink it out of a mug, but on roasted tofu it’s a no-brainer.

Tofu “Turkey”

by Jason on May 23, 2009

Stuck for a holiday dish? In part one of our Holiday Extravaganza, AngelA shows you how to make a tofu “turkey,” complete with stuffing. This is a favourite dish around Thrust Labs, but Ange only makes it on big holidays, so I have to resort to things like changing the date on her computer every week. It’s a bit of work, but it’s sure worth it!

Carob Almond Squares

by Jason on May 16, 2009

Here’s another recipe for your sweet tooth! We promise, we’ll do some healthier dishes soon, but as Ange explained, she went a week and a half without any sugar, and now she’s making up for lost, uh, nutrients.

Caramel Squares/Granola Bars

by Jason on May 9, 2009

Ange is cooking up the sugar! This episode features caramel squares, which as an added bonus remind me of those crunchy granola bars I used to take to school in the third grade. They’re probably about as healthy. If I was presented with a whole tray of those things when I was eight, I would have eaten the whole batch in no time. Well, at least I’m taller now.

Lentil Burgers

by Jason on May 2, 2009

If you missed my performance at this year’s Vegetarian Food Fair – or if you spent the whole session marvelling at my incredible charisma and missed the actual content of the demo – here’s a more permanent version. Like most things I do, the recipe’s changed since we shot this – try adding some apple cider vinegar to the mix for a different flavour!

Ultimate basic muffins

by Jason on April 25, 2009

OK, they’re muffins, sure, but what makes an ultimate muffin? There’s a bit of a dispute over that here at Thrust Labs – I think they should be able to turn into cars, and Ange thinks it’s the ability to easily make cool variations like apple cinnamon and carob hempnut. She’s hosting this one, so guess who wins?

Bountiful Black Bean Burrito Bundles

by Jason on April 18, 2009

We’re back! Did you miss us as much as we missed you? OK, enough sloppy sentiment: it’s time to cook beans! Our bountiful black bean burrito bundles are bucking bawesome, and you can tell your mom I said that.

Monique’s Lemon Spread

by Jason on April 11, 2009

Wow, this is the second show in a row featuring one of Monique’s recipes! This time, instead of a dip, it’s a spread. Spreads, dips, sauces, you name it, if you’ve got a broken jaw, Monique’s kitchen is the best.

Monique’s Bean-y dip

by Jason on April 4, 2009

The only thing cooler than bean dip would be some kind of bean-based wafer that one could use as a shovel to interact with the bean dip. Bean on bean action is where it’s at. True story.
